Lists. Are they a good thing?

It feels like a lot of times people want somebody else to make decisions for them. This could be a puppy they want to adopt, a product that want to buy online or a way to write the perfect letter to a good friend. So we open up a search window and type, "What are the 10 best...."
What do we do this? It is easier, sure, because somebody else does all the work. But a huge part of the fun and definitely the process is figuring something out on your own. Now, you probably should not adopt 10 puppies and only keep 1, returning the rest. But you should try and figure what type of puppy is best for your situation and personality. It is just too easy to get a list and see what other people think or rank as "the best."
OK, I type in cutest puppies and this is what came up.
